Frequently Asked Questions

What information do I need to supply you with?

The more information you can give us, the easier and more accurate our job will be.
As a general guide names and dates (or approximate years) of birth, a place of birth or death would also be useful, but any information however insignificant it may seem could prove invaluable.

How far back can we trace our ancestry?

In England and Wales most families can be traced back to 1837 which is when Civil Registration began.
However some may even be traceable back further using Parish Registers dating back as far as 1538

Can you travel to search Parish Records in different parts of the country?

Yes, we are willing to travel in the course of our research, which will, of course incurr travelling expenses.
All this will of course be discussed in detail with you before any work is done.

Can you provide photographs of my ancestors final resting place?

Yes, providing there are no objections or local bye-laws which prevent this.

What happens if you find nothing?

This is very unlikely, as we have never returned no results for a search.
However, in the unlikely event of this happening, a full refund will be given, minus any expenses incurred.
